Sunday April 26th marks the anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The disaster which occurred in 1986 still affects thousands of children in the Chernobyl regions of Belarus, Ukraine and Western Russia to this day.
I am lucky enough to have been part of the relief efforts as I worked for Adi Roche’s Chernobyl Children International for over two years. I have met the children who come to spend their Summer and Chrismas holidays with host families around Ireland and have seen the difference that Irish donations can make to building foster homes and saving babies lives with cardiac operations.
Did you know that you can support Chernobyl Children International on your wedding day?
Áine’s Chocolates and Cavan Box have joined forces with Chernobyl Children International to help raise vital funds for their Child Cardiac Surgery Programme. The Cardiac Surgery Programme provides life-saving operations to babies and children in Ukraine born with cardiac defects, who without this surgery would not survive. €1,000 can save the life of a child.
Each pack of 2 delicious, heart shaped chocolates costs €2. You can also support Chernobyl Children International by making a donation in lieu of wedding favours and they will provide you with a print out to be used as a card or scroll on the tables.
For further information on CCI’s wedding favours please call 021 455 8774 or email info@chernobyl-ireland.com. You can visit their website here or Facebook page here.
Love from my world,
