Today March 21st marks World Down Syndrome Day. As fundraising takes place throughout the year for many wonderful causes such as this, did you know that you can fundraise on your wedding day?
Many couples have trouble deciding whether to have favours and if personalised pens and candles or scratchcards are the best way to spend their money. Choosing to donate to a charity in lieu of favours will mean so much more to your guests and your donation will make a difference to someone somewhere.
While weddings have always been my passion, I started my career as a fundraiser so I know first-hand the importance of donations and to have your charity chosen as part of someone’s special day. Over the next few weeks I will showcase Irish charities and how you can support them on your wedding day.
First up Down Syndrome Ireland.
I am privileged to know closely three wonderful people with Down Syndrome and the smiles and love and affection they show to me and those around would melt your heart. I recently attended the 2nd birthday party of Aoibhe, I danced the night away with Alex at my niece’s Sweet 16 in New York (here) and I am looking forward to making Julia’s cake when she makes her First Holy Communion in May. Knowing these families, I know that the support of Down Syndrome Ireland is so important.
How it works:
Simply select your required number of Wedding Favour Cards or pins and DSI will send to your chosen address. Down Syndrome Ireland will provide you with beautiful place cards or pins for each guest so they are informed a donation has been made on their behalf.
All that they ask is that you make a donation to their organisation in return for the Wedding Favours or Pins.
How to order:
For further details, please phone a member of DSI’s Fundraising Team on 01 426 6500 or visit the website here.
Happy World Down Sydrome Day to Aoibhe, Alex, Julia and those around the world with an extra chromosome and their amazing families. Today is all about you so celebrate!
Love from my world,
