Happy bank holiday! I hope you had a great Easter weekend and haven’t fallen into a sugar coma yet from too many eggs! I had lots of fun this weekend celebrating my school friend Nora’s hen party in Kenmare, Co Kerry with 12 other chicks! Here’s a quick update on what we got up to!
We started off on Saturday afternoon in Sheen Falls Lodge for afternoon tea. We all wore pearls and hats, I wore my Aoife Hannon headpiece that I mentioned here. We had a beautiful room all to ourselves overlooking the lake. It was a lovely sunny day which made for great pics outside and inside as the room lit up. The food was amazing, everything from the crab meat on brown bread and mini scones to the macaroons and chocolate mousse. As for the tea, we must have had 10 cups! It was great to have a private room to take pics for Nora’s hen book and do the Mr and Mrs quiz. I highly recommend afternoon tea at Sheen Falls if you are looking for a day out with family or for a hen party.
As I am a lover of baking I made Nora a hen cake. We had so much food at afternoon tea, that the cake was kept for home. I put Nora and her fiancé’s initials in the double heart and the 3 flags represent where they are from, where they live and where they are getting married. I was thrilled that Nora loved it.
After afternoon tea, we checked into our accommodation The Coachman’s Inn which is the ideal place to stay when heading out in Kenmare. It’s on the main street and the staff were so accommodating. They do pub food and we spent a lot of the night there too dancing our socks off to great trad music.
The bridesmaids Linda and Helen were fantastic and thought of everything. We checked into the rooms to goodie bags and champagne! Nora’s bag was such a hit with everyone especially the bride to be! It’s by Jute Bags by Kate and I’m sure will come in very handy when the bride is running around doing wedding tasks.
We had a fabulous meal in The Lime Tree Restaurant where we all surprised the bride wearing masks of her groom! As it was Easter weekend, we all got an egg too…a raw egg that is with the grooms face on that we had to mind for the night! Only one egg made breakfast the next morning with the mother of the bride!
It was such a great weekend and I would really recommend Kenmare for a hen party! The hen and her dozen chicks had a great Easter weekend! Now that the hen is over, I can’t wait for the wedding!
Love from my world,
