So this month instead of a Real Life Wedding, it’s a Real Life Engagement. Weddings are the start of a marriage but the engagement is the start of the journey that two people are taking together. And the real test for some is planning the wedding! Engagement photo shoots are becoming more and more popular for many reasons. For some it’s a great way to remember the occasion, others might choose to use the pics to send a ‘Save the Date’ for the wedding while many will use it as a trial with their wedding photographer to get to know them. This bride to be shared her engagement story with me and her thoughts for the big day.
Names: Grace Fitzgerald and David Cashman
Date of Engagement: 14th of February
Location of Engagement: Coolbawn Quay, Co Tipperary
Photographer: Ted Murphy
Story of Engagement:
Dave had a hurling match on Valentines weekend and told me that I should come and he would take me away for the night to celebrate Valentines. His game was near Nenagh and after the game he brought me to Coolbawn Quay, a beautiful resort built in the style of a traditional Irish village. It is set on Lough Derg so the scenery provided a beautiful backdrop to our engagement. When we arrived we went for a walk around the village and then went to the bar for a champagne reception. We had an amazing meal and when we went back to our room Dave had the ring box in the room where he popped the question!
Is the photographer for your engagement shoot, your wedding photographer?
Yes
Why did you decide to do an engagement shoot?
It was part of the package we had with our photographer Ted Murphy! He really made us feel at ease and it was a great dress rehearsal for the big day.
What are you most looking forward to about your wedding day?
The morning of the wedding getting ready with my friends and family. Just looking forward to having that time together before the busyness of the day starts. Then arriving at the church and walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Dave at the top of the aisle. I can’t wait to then get to The Dunloe where we will celebrate our reception. It will be great to celebrate our day with close friends and family.
Thanks so much to Grace and David for sharing their engagement with me. They have since tied the knot and are enjoying married life. I look forward to featuring their Real Life Wedding in the months ahead.
So if you are wondering whether or not to do an engagement shoot, why not?! Even if it’s not in your budget, ask a friend who is good with a camera and make some memories of your engagement to last a lifetime.
Love from my world,
Lisa x
