So a few weeks back (a good few), I was celebrating sending one of my friends off in style on her hen party. If you were following me on Snapchat (@lisac_snaps), you’ll know that my trip to the hen didn’t start off to plan. The hen was a Swinging 60’s theme and it took me weeks to find a dress for it. So I was 2 out of the 3 hours into the drive to Kinsale in Cork and like a light bulb moment I thought….where’s my dress? Hanging in the hall in my house, that’s where! Queue panic mode! I couldn’t go back for the dress so it was a pit stop to Mahon Point on the way with 30 mins to find a dress! I did, crisis averted!
Bride-to-be Aisling and the Hens met up in The Powder Room at The White Lady in Kinsale, I was late cause of the dress saga! The Powder Room is perfect for meeting up with the girls for a glass of bubbly to kick things off. Then it was down to the old ballroom/nightclub in the ballroom for a Salsa class. I got there just as the class started and it was good fun and not too intense of a class. It was all about the hips!
Following the Salsa class, we checked into rooms, got our goodie bags and had a few drinks in the hotel bar. After a few drinks it was time to get ready, 60s style! The dress worked well with the tights and boots I had. I lucked out sharing a room with Dawn and one of the bridesmaids Noelle who happened to be a hairdresser so she backcombed our hair to give us a few extra inches in height! And we were ready to swing into the 60’s.
We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, a 3 course meal, and it was delicious. We were stuffed. I supplied some LifeLine Hangover Defence so there weren’t as many hangovers the next morning as they should have been. During the meal, the bridesmaids Gretta, Nicola, Cat & Noelle had everything covered, Hen Rules contracts, memory book, Mr & Mrs quiz and a surprise from the Groom!
Nicola read a poem Chris had written for his Bride-to-Be and queue 18 girls bawling around the dinner table! Aisling has kindly said I can share so here it is. Pass the tissues!
After we dried our tears and reapplied the lippy, we were off up town. We spent most of the night in Kitty O’Shea’s pub. The one man band was from Kerry so no better man to suit a group of Kerry Hens! When you have pains from laughing and dancing you know it’s a good night.
Morning after a super brekkie was served in The White Lady. The hotel has only 12 rooms so it’s a nice size, I think we took up most of them. Apart from going up town after dinner, everything else was in the hotel which was so handy. The White Lady have various hen packages on their site, see them here. It’s a great location for a hen and ideal that everything is so close.
Everything about the weekend was great and the bridesmaids did a super job! Not long now until the wedding and I can’t wait to see Aisling & Chris tie the knot. I have bought a dress, let’s just hope I don’t forget this one!
Love from my world,
Lisa x
