It’s been a while since I’ve blogged so I’m going to throw myself back into it this week! If you follow me on Snapchat (@lisac_snaps) you will know that I was at a hen party at the weekend in my favourite city…Cork! I lived there for 9 years so any excuse to go back for a weekend and I’m there. Plus what better to take a trip for but a hen!
All the hens got a bus up from Limerick (except me!) so the party started well before I met them. Sinead’s sister/bridesmaid extraordinaire Aisling did goodie bags for all the girls and the glass jars came in handy for the bus journey. Aisling also made little lanyards to wear the next day. (Check out last year’s goodie bag post here).
We stayed in the Clarion Hotel on Lapps Quay. Triple rooms were ideal for a hen and the location is perfect. We started the evening off with a BBQ in the Penthouse which was yum and lovely and relaxed. The bride Sinead flew in from Australia the day before so it was a great way for her to catch up with everybody. Of course after the BBQ there was cake! And you know I love cake! The cake was by Cakes by Deborah and was divine! The mini bottles of vodka had disappeared before I got the pic!
There was time for games then and I really think the game was great! After doing the Mr & Mrs Quiz so many times at hens, it was nice to do something different. We were divided into teams of 3 and had to answer questions about Sinead’s childhood, her favourites, her relationship and the wedding. It was great fun and much to our surprise we won and got Cosmos from Maron at the Clarion to celebrate!
As a gift to Sinead to remember her hen night, all the hens had sent a brooch a few weeks in advance and super bridesmaid Aisling made a brooch bouquet which was presented to Sinead on the night and included her grandmother’s brooch. It was such a fabulous sentiment and everyone was a little emotional.
Once we had wrapped things up in the Clarion after a few snippets of home movies, we headed to SoHo on Grand Parade for a few drinks and then to Voodoo Rooms on Oliver Plunkett Street where we danced the night away in our reserved area. I would highly recommend my favourite city if you are thinking about where to go for a hen.
Have you any other recommendations on what to do for a hen in Cork? Let me know on my Facebook page here. Now that we have sent the beautiful bride to be off in style, roll on the wedding!
Love from my world,
